Chinese Lawyers attending the Advanced Training Program Arrived in New York

The Chinese Lawyers attending the Chinese Lawyer Advanced Training Program arrived in New York on July 12.

Ms Holly Zhang, president of UCLEF, had a meeting with the Chinese lawyers. She showed her appreciation for their professionalism of participating in the training program even in this season of H1N1 influenza and for their support to as well as trust of UCLEF. To ensure the participants a pleasant stay during their training in New York, UCLEF employed interpreters for this program and invited Chinese students from Fordhm Law School to assist with the lawyers' stay in New York.

The training program is a four-week program held in New York from July 12 to August 8. It is comprised of three parts. The first part is a three-week American Legal Study. Trainees will be provided with the courses including Introduction to U.S. Legal System, International Trade and WTO Law, Public Offering and Securities Regulations, Corporate Law, Mergers and Acquisitions, International Arbitration, Mediation and Negotiation, Banking System and Reform, Bankruptcy Law, Civil Litigation, Contract Law, Intellectual Property Law and Information Technology Law. Law Firms Visitation is the second part of the program. The third part is Legal Profession Visitation which includes the visitation to the United Nations, New York Federal Court, Philadelphia (National Constitutional Center, Independence Hall, Liberty Bell) and Washington D.C (White House, Congress Hill, Lincoln Memorial Hall, Jefferson Memorial, and Washington Monument). Participants will receive certificates of completion at the conclusion of the program, jointly issued by UCLEF and Fordham Law School.

This program is designed to promote the understanding of U.S. legal system and law firm practice, facilitate networking and connections between Chinese legal professionals and their U.S. counterparts, which will eventually help Chinese lawyers to achieve career advancement and business development.
