Seminar on New Customs Rules and Customs Clearance Practice of the United States

Doing business in the United States will have to face a wide range of statutory obligations. As for international trade, a key issue facing importers and exporters when importing goods to the United States is how to comply with customs clearance procedures. Imported goods that fail to meet mandatory requirements may probably be faced with a result of the prohibition of entry or staying outside of the Customs. Delayed deliveries of goods may break the supply chain and in turn may cast a significant impact on importers and producers. On November 25, 2008, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) released new requirements on the Importer Security Filing, known as the "10 +2" rules. The U.S. Customs will start to enforce such rules in January 26, 2010. Issues in connection with the "10+2" rules will become core topics of the Sino-US trade at the end of 2009. For this, the UCLEF will invite Mr. Sanjian Yan, the customs broker of the CBP and Master of Logistics of the State University of New York Maritime College, to hold a seminar on how to declare in Customs Clearance and avoid the potential cost of a false statement under the new rules. The seminar will also touch on the issues on how the CBP determines the commercial invoice price in the customs declaration. The Sino-US trade importers and exporters and other interested parties are welcomed to participate in this seminar.

The seminar will be held on September 5, 2009 at 9:00 am through the UCLEF video conferencing network http://uclef.webex.com.cn. Interested parties, please send the emails to contact@uschinalegal.org to obtain more information. For further details, please check our website www.uschinalegal.org.cn.
